French Courses for Children at Alliance Française de Singapour

Alliance Francaise de Singapour

Alliance Francaise de SingapourThe Alliance française de Singapour, Singapore’s premier French language institution and cultural centre, runs French courses for children from as young as one year old to teenagers aged twelve and above. French courses for children at Alliance française are very much sought after thanks to the great quality of the content, the dedication and professionalism of highly trained native French teachers and our desire to make sure that learning is fun AND efficient!

Our programme for the young begins with the Zouzous class for pre-schoolers, where children as young as 12-months-old are exposed to a foreign language, and where their natural abilities help them to master French language rapidly and easily while boosting their intellectual competencies. We also offer various classes for children from the ages of five to fifteen, using methodology and syllabus developed in France for optimum language learning.

Broadened Cultural Horizons
Learning another language is a life-long commitment. An early start facilitates a deeper understanding of one’s own culture, as well as an appreciation of other cultures. At the cross-cultural level, being educated in French broadens a child’s outlook and introduces new modes of expression. Knowing more than one language enables communication with a wide spectrum of people from diverse backgrounds.

Alliance française de Singapour has developed a great expertise in teaching French to children and we are eager to expand our programs by offering others ways of learning that can greatly complement their learning in class.

Call us today for an in-depth discussion on our best programmes which can be tailored to meet individual needs, and on how learning French can benefit your child.

Chatsworth International School at Emerald Hill Road

Chatsworth International School at Emerald Hill Road

Sitting inconspicuously among the characteristic and colourful shophouses of the old Straits settlement on top of Emerald Hill, Chatsworth International School(Orchard) occupies a former Peranakan mansion and its grounds.

Accessible to Orchard Road by its front entrance on Cairnhill Road, and backing on to the old-world feel of Emerald Hill at the rear, Chatsworth blends elements of both into a School with a unique community of 689 students and over 70 educators and support staff.

The present day mansion, which is now our entirely self-contained School campus, was constructed in the late nineteenth century as the family home of the influential Dr. Lim Boon Keng. Between the years of 1925 and 1994, it housed the Singapore Chinese Girls’ School.

Among its student and staff body, this campus today plays host to an IB World School with over 44 nationalities, characterised by a distinctively international flavour. Its location occupies both an important place in the past as an educational landmark of colonial-era Singapore as well as a place today where it sits seamlessly within the modern heart of this tropical City State.

Dover Court International School

Dover Court Preparatory School, Singapore

In April 2014, Dover Court International School (formerly Dover Court Preparatory School) became part of the world’s leading premium schools organisation, Nord Anglia Education. For over 40 years, Dover Court has provided a traditional and highly sought after British education to expatriate students residing in Singapore. Currently educating 650 children from over 60 nationalities, the school’s relentless commitment to three core promises has been the key factor for its success.

Firstly, children attending the school develop a passion for learning that enables them to develop into socially and intellectually confident individuals. Teachers are well skilled at helping children to understand how they are doing and areas where they can improve. This process enables children to become part of the learning process and also helps them to become independent and disciplined in their school life.

Secondly, Dover Court places a large emphasis on ensuring children understand the importance of respect, support and interaction with others. Inter-cultural understanding is at the heart of the school’s ethos and built extensively into the curriculum through events such as UN Day and Deevali celebrations. Students are actively involved in working on community projects so that they can understand some of the issues and challenges in the world around them.

Thirdly, children achieve outstanding progress across all areas of school life at Dover Court. With only 650 students, and fully staffed and resourced departments for English as a Second Language and Special Needs, learning is very carefully tailored to each child’s needs and extremely effective at delivering results. Importantly, learning is monitored rigorously and feedback is given at every level so that students never cease to develop academically and socially.

Integrated International School (IIS)

Integrated International School (IIS)

Boutique School with Two Educational Approaches (Mainstream & Support) – One Integrated Community!

Students learn differently, and no other International School in Singapore recognises this more than IIS; a hidden gem nestled in the West of Singapore, IIS provides its students the personalised attention and support they need whilst challenging them academically and supported by an Australian based curriculum.

Two educational approaches:
The first boutique International School in Singapore to offer a Mainstream and Support approach for children aged 4 to 16 years old in an inclusive setting. IIS prides itself on inclusivity and acknowledges that the “one size fits all approach,” to learning and teaching is extinct. Students at IIS are integrated in one International community, supporting and enhancing individual talents whilst fostering socially conscientious and tolerant human beings.

Intimacy:
Amongst the jungle of International Schools in Singapore, class sizes rarely fall below 18. IIS provides an environment where small class sizes (approximately 10 students per class) and an enviable teacher to student ratio are tantamount to the success of the students.

Academic curriculum:
The IIS curriculum is based on the foundations of the New South Wales curriculum with students sitting the NAPLAN assessments in the relevant year groups as advised by the NSWBOSTES (New South Wales Board of Studies, Teaching & Educational Standards).

Core socio-emotional curriculum:
Encouraging students to ‘think out of the box,’ believe in themselves, take risks and enjoy every small success they are a part of is as important as academic success at IIS.

Support Department:
IIS incorporates a well-equipped Support Department, with Counsellors/Psychologists and Therapists offering students relevant therapy and support in areas of individual need.

Red SchoolHouse

Red School House

Red SchoolHouse @ Katong occupies a quaint red and white bungalow with plentiful space for interesting outdoor activities. A herb garden is in the pipeline where the little ones will have a chance to learn how to grow and care for the living plants and the environment.

The Curriculum

At Red SchoolHouse, we embark on a unique holistic SPICE curriculum incorporated with innovative approaches. Emphasis is given on hands-on experiential learning as kids are encouraged to be independent learners and creative thinkers. Class sizes are kept small (below the teacher-child ratio guideline required by the Ministry of Education / Early Childhood Development Agency) to ensure the child gets the maximized attention from the teachers.

Field Trips

Monthly field trips take the little learners to various places in Singapore such as goat / mushroom / tortoise farms, kampongs, health promotion board and various museums. The school will also take them for age-appropriate theatre plays at least once a year at places like the Esplanade and Act 3 International at Cairnhill Road. Apart from stimulating the kid’s curiosity, these trips also teach them to be more confident and aware of their surroundings when they are outdoors.

Parent Volunteers

Red SchoolHouse believes in forming a strong partnership with parents. We invite parents to be actively involved in the school’s activities e.g. field trips, baking classes. Together, as a BIG family, we support and care about the well-being of each other.

The Team

The mission at Red SchoolHouse is to create an environment where one feels secure, happy and loved unconditionally. Our team of dedicated and dynamic staff is also constantly building up and refreshing their knowledge and expertise to better support the children’s learnings.

The tag line that keeps this BIG family grounded – “Settling The Heart, Defining Your Child”.
